The Psychology Center of Porto University (Centro de Psicologia da Universidade do Porto) and the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto(Escola Superior de Educação do IPP) have been developing several research projects regarding children, families and early education and development contexts. The project “Infant transition to child care: parent-caregiver communication, early education quality and infant adjustment” FCOMP-01-0124-FEDER-029509; FCT – PTDC/MHC-CED/4007/2012] is a result of a cooperation between researchers of those two institutions and intends to to investigate infant’s transition to child care in the first year of life, examining the extent to which variables of the family, child care and family-caregiver communication influence infant adjustment. This project is organized in three moments:

  • Moment 1: assessment of infants routines in family context;
  • Moment 2: infants entry in childcare centers;
  • Moment 3: follow-up on child adjustment to child care.
